Website Intro: Since childhood, Cobus, a native of South Africa, had a passion for photography.  In the middle '70s he started with a old 120 twin lens reflex Rollei from his mother, going through a varied selection of film cameras, mainly Minolta and Canon, shooting first print and then slide film.  During compulsory Military Service in the South African Air Force, Cobus developed a taste for Aviation Photography.  After Military Service, he was active in Industrial Photography as the incident recording photographer for an  explosives and propellant manufacturer whiles working in their chemical laboratories as an Analytical Technician.  Since moving to Oudtshoorn in the Klein Karoo area of South Africa in 1989, opportunities for Aviation Photography has been few and he turned his hand to an old love, floral photography, mainly Fijnbos in the Cape fold mountain ranges of Swartberg and Kamanassie.  During that time his employer in the ostrich industry launched a newsletter with international circulation for with he acted as photographer, documenting the world of ostrich farming and processing, but also the human angle.  During a working stint in Gauteng in the late 1990s, he was introduced to digital photography.  This has sparked the move to a full digital workflow in 2001.

By way of his employment in the exotic leather trade, Cobus has also done fashion shoots at the ramps at fashions shows and leather exhibitions in Europe and the Far East.  Cobus also shot some of well-known leather artist, Beatrix Bosch's works at her Wildernis studios.

Now back in the Southern Cape, at the village of Hartenbos, Cobus does all his photography with a selection of professional Canon SLR equipment and uses Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop for post processing.  Cobus incorporated some new ideas into his photography through his friendship with well-known video photographer and Director of Photography, Etienne Neser of Way South Productions.

Cobus currently holds membership of the Photographic Society of South Africa and the International Society of Aviation Photographers.
